DMCA Notice & Takedown Policy

1. How to file a notice

To submit a copyright-infringement notice, send a written communication to our designated agent via the Contact form. Choose the subject line "DMCA notice". Your notice must include all of the following elements required by §512(c)(3):

1. A physical or electronic signature of the copyright owner or a person authorised to act on the owner's behalf;
2. Identification of the copyrighted work claimed to be infringed (if multiple works are covered by a single notice, a representative list of those works at this site);
3. Identification of the material that is claimed to be infringing or to be the subject of infringing activity, with information reasonably sufficient to permit us to locate the material (a direct URL to the page on playgeoglobe.com is strongly preferred);
4. Information reasonably sufficient to permit us to contact the complaining party — at minimum a postal address, telephone number, and email address;
5. A statement that the complaining party has a good-faith belief that use of the material in the manner complained of is not authorised by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law;
6. A statement that the information in the notification is accurate and, under penalty of perjury, that the complaining party is authorised to act on behalf of the owner of an exclusive right that is allegedly infringed.

Notices that omit any of these elements may be invalid under §512(c)(3) and may not receive a response.

2. Designated agent

For the purposes of receiving notifications of claimed infringement, the designated agent is the GuessGlobe team. The most reliable channel is the Contact form; we monitor it daily and reply within three to five business days. Please do not send DMCA notices through social-media direct messages or third-party platforms — we cannot guarantee they will be received.

3. How we respond

When we receive a valid notice, we will:

• Acknowledge receipt to the address you provided, normally within three business days;
• Investigate the claim in good faith, including reviewing the material identified;
• If the claim is supported, remove or disable access to the material expeditiously;
• Notify the user or contributor responsible for the material that the content has been removed and provide them with a copy of the notice we received (you consent to this disclosure when you submit a notice);
• Where appropriate, terminate the account or access of repeat infringers under §512(i).

We may, in our discretion, document and publish anonymised statistics about takedown activity for transparency purposes.

4. Counter-notice

If you believe material that has been removed or disabled was removed in error or in good-faith mistake of fact, you may submit a counter-notice through the Contact form with the subject "DMCA counter-notice". Your counter-notice must include:

1. Your physical or electronic signature;
2. Identification of the material that has been removed or disabled and the location at which the material appeared before it was removed or disabled;
3. A statement under penalty of perjury that you have a good-faith belief that the material was removed or disabled as a result of mistake or misidentification of the material to be removed or disabled;
4. Your full name, postal address, telephone number, and a statement that you consent to the jurisdiction of the United States federal district court for the judicial district in which your address is located (or, if your address is outside the United States, the federal district court in which we may be found), and that you will accept service of process from the person who provided the original notice or an agent of that person.

On receipt of a valid counter-notice we may, in our discretion and where the law permits, restore the material after ten business days, unless the original complainant first notifies us that they have filed a court action seeking a restraining order.

5. False statements

Under §512(f) of the DMCA, any person who knowingly materially misrepresents either that material is infringing, or that material was removed or disabled by mistake or misidentification, may be liable for damages, including costs and lawyers' fees, incurred by the alleged infringer, the copyright owner or its authorised licensee, or by us, as a result of our reliance on that misrepresentation. We take false claims seriously and may pursue remedies for abusive notices.

6. Repeat-infringer policy

It is our policy, in appropriate circumstances, to terminate the access of users or contributors who are repeat infringers. What constitutes a "repeat infringer" is determined on a case-by-case basis, taking into account the nature of the infringement, the user's history, and any contextual factors.

7. About our own content

Most material on GuessGlobe — the quiz interface, the long-form articles in our Learn hub, and the supporting copy on every page — is original work created by the GuessGlobe team. Country borders are drawn from the Natural Earth public-domain cartography project. Capital-city data is compiled from official government gazettes, the UN Statistics Division, and the CIA World Factbook. If you believe a specific item on the site uses your work without permission, please tell us — we would rather fix the problem than leave it standing.

8. Other jurisdictions

GuessGlobe is operated from the European Union and is subject to the European Union Digital Services Act ("DSA"), in addition to the United States DMCA when content concerns U.S. rights-holders. We accept notices under either framework via the same Contact form. Where the requirements of both frameworks overlap, we treat the more protective notice provisions as controlling.

9. Contact

The fastest way to reach the designated agent is the Contact form with the subject "DMCA notice" or "DMCA counter-notice". We acknowledge every valid notice and counter-notice in writing.
