Flag Quiz: Guess the Country
See a flag, pick the country. After each answer the globe turns to show you where it is.
How the flag quiz works
Each question shows one national flag and four countries to choose from. You have 30 seconds. After you answer, the globe turns to the country and highlights it, so you learn the location along with the flag. A quick round has 10 flags. The All 195 Flags challenge goes through every country's flag once, with no repeats, including microstates like Monaco and Tuvalu.
On Hard difficulty you get 20 seconds, and the wrong options usually come from the same region, so you need to know the details rather than guess from the continent.
Flags that look almost the same
- Chad and Romania: blue, yellow and red vertical stripes. Chad's blue is slightly darker; otherwise they are almost identical.
- Indonesia and Monaco: both red over white. Monaco's flag is squarer.
- Ireland and Côte d'Ivoire: the same three colours in opposite order. Ireland has green at the flagpole, Côte d'Ivoire orange.
- Australia and New Zealand: both blue with the Union Jack and the Southern Cross. New Zealand's stars are red, and Australia has a large seven-pointed star under the Union Jack.
- Senegal and Mali: green, yellow and red. Senegal adds a green star in the centre.
- Colombia, Ecuador and Venezuela: yellow, blue and red stripes. Colombia's yellow band is twice as tall, Ecuador has a coat of arms, and Venezuela has an arc of eight stars.
- Nepal is easy: it is the only national flag that is not a rectangle.
